Paying for Services

Regardless of background or finances, we will be here to care for you with kindness and compassion.

Paying for Services

Coast Plaza Hospital is your access point to high-caliber healing. We welcome all to our facility regardless of background or finances. Whatever your situation, we will be there to accept you and treat you with kindness and compassion.

From the moment you are admitted until you are discharged, Coast Plaza Hospital is dedicated to performing our responsibilities sincerely and professionally and responding to your needs. During your stay with us, charges will be made to your account based on the services that you receive. These charges are based primarily upon the orders that your physician has made regarding your medical care. You may be billed by physicians for their professional services based upon the tests and procedures that are performed.

We accept Medicare, Medi-Cal and many major health insurance plans, including the HMOs, PPOs, and Managed Care plans. If you have questions or do not have insurance, please contact our Business Office to discuss financial arrangements. In addition, the Patient Access Department can help you with applying for Medi-Cal or other government assistance programs.

Insurance Information

Health Insurance

We will need you to bring your health insurance card or proof of coverage with you to the hospital. If you are admitted to the hospital, you will be asked to sign a form assigning all insurance benefits for your stay to Coast Plaza Hospital. This form allows us to file with your insurance company and collect money on your behalf. After you are discharged, we will send a claim to your insurance company seeking payment.

HMO or PPO Members

Your plan may have special requirements, such as a second surgical opinion or pre-certification, for certain tests or procedures. It is your responsibility to make sure the requirements are followed. If not, you may be financially responsible for all or part of the services rendered in the hospital. Some physician specialists may not participate in your health care plan, and their services may not be covered. If you need assistance in contacting your health plans, please contact our Business Office at (562) 968-5600.

Medicare

We will need a copy of your Medicare card to verify eligibility and process your Medicare claim. If you have a Medicare Supplement plan you will also need to bring a copy of your card so that we can verify eligibility and process claim after Medicare as paid, if there is a balance due. Please visit Medicare.gov for more information.

Medi-Cal

We will need a copy of your Medi-Cal card for the current month. Medi-Cal also has payment limitations on a number of services and items. Medi-Cal does not pay for the cost of a private room unless medically necessary. For more information on the California Medicaid program, please visit the Medi-Cal site.
