Ruben Martinez is the most recent employee to be honored by Coast Plaza Hospital with the Exemplary Employee Award for March. The award recognizes outstanding employees who demonstrate their commitment to patients, family and co-workers through acts of caring, compassion and excellent customer service.
Martinez is an EVS Tech in the Environmental Services department. He has worked at Coast Plaza since January 2000 and was nominated by a patient’s family member who had this to say:
“My mother was admitted to Coast Plaza Hospital in October. I had the pleasure of meeting Ruben on the morning shift. He was in the cafeteria, joyfully making sure everything was clean and in order. He very quickly asked if I needed anything. I informed him I was looking for coffee, and he quickly showed me where everything was and proceeded to offer his assistance should I have any other needs.
During brief conversation, as he joyfully continued to do his job with thoroughness and energy, I was overwhelmed with gratitude that I had come across such a hard-working and dedicated employee. It has been my experience that this is not always the case in healthcare. I would like to recognize this hard-working individual for his thoughtfulness and commitment to quality of service to a complete stranger that needed a little help that morning. It is my sincere hope that he will be recognized for his commitment to your organization and made aware of how much his efforts do not go unnoticed by those of us who visit in emergent situations.”
