Valentine “Happy” Duran, R.N., will join the Coast Plaza Hospital family as Chief Nursing Officer beginning Tuesday, June 4.
Hospital CEO Victor Carrasco made the announcement May 15.
“I am particularly impressed with Happy’s overarching passion for improving healthcare in all arenas,” Carrasco said. “She brings a high level of expertise and experience to Coast Plaza to lead our efforts to improve the quality of care and the patient experience for the community we serve.”
Duran comes to Coast Plaza from Redlands Community Hospital, where she has served as Director of Medical Surgical Services for the last three years. Her portfolio included leadership of the Medical Surgical units, the Spine and Joint Institute, Transitional Care Unit, Lift Team, Wound Care Nursing and Float Pool for the 229-bed hospital.
Her tenure at Redlands began in 2008. Her prior roles include Nursing Manager, Nursing Educator, and Quality and Patient Safety Manager.
Prior experience also includes nursing roles at Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital and Kaiser Permanente Riverside Hospital.
Duran earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Loma Linda University and a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Phoenix. She holds a doctorate in nursing practice from Grand Canyon University.
