Posing for a celebratory photo at Coast Plaza Hospital are (left to right): Silvia Ramirez, hospital CNO Valentine Duran, honoree Iris Reyes and CEO Victor Carrasco.
Iris Reyes is an EVS Technician in the Environmental Services department. She has worked at our hospital since October 2003. She was nominated by two individuals—a co-worker whose husband was hospitalized and a member of another patient’s family.
The fellow employee had this to say:
“Iris went above and beyond while my husband was hospitalized, to make sure that his room was cleaned and sanitized. Iris not only made sure his room was clean, but also she asked him if there was anything else that he needed. Iris would be like this with all the patients I saw when I would visit my husband. She would pause on what she was doing to go and help the patients across the way. Sometimes a lot of people don’t realize how crucial the job of an EVS employee is until you see it firsthand. They play a very important role in the hospital. Iris has a beautiful heart and is very caring. My husband and I feel that she deserves this award.”
In another nomination, a patient’s family member said this about Iris:
“My mother was admitted to Coast Plaza Hospital, and I had the pleasure of meeting Iris on a Tuesday morning as I visited my mother. Iris came into my mother’s room, introduced herself, explained her role and the reason for being there. She was polite, professional and showed great thoroughness while joyfully doing her job. At the end of her time in the room, she turned to my mother and said she would be available for anything we needed during her shift.
“It was her thoughtfulness, professionalism and dedication to her job that I did not want to go unnoticed. I was overwhelmed with gratitude to see such commitment to excellent service, especially in healthcare. It is my sincere hope that Iris will be recognized for her commitment to your organization and made aware of how much her efforts mean to us who visit in emergent situations.”
