THE PROCEDURE
Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatments are done on an inpatient or outpatient basis, depending on circumstances.
An assessment is performed prior to each treatment.
Patients wear a gown made of 100 percent cotton.
The climate-controlled acrylic chamber is seven feet long and 30 inches wide.
The chamber is pressurized with 100 percent oxygen to a pressure that is equivalent to 45-66 feet of sea water.
The pressure creates a fullness in the ears, which is easily equalized.
Most conditions require a series of treatments.
Each treatment is performed within a two-hour period.
During the first fifteen minutes, the chamber is somewhat noisy and warm, but once it is at the perscribed depth, conditions improve.
Patients pass the remaining time by watching television, listening to music or reading.
